SUMMARY:Neil Harris | Holotropic Breathwork: Inspiration and Revelation
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\nIn his presentation, Neil will describe holotropic breathwork, a natural and reproducible process that can open the way to expanded states of awareness. It also has the advantage of being entirely legal.  Neil will discuss the history of the method, and the roles of breather, sitter and facilitator.  He will outline the variety and complexity of experience that can occur and will offer some maps of the territory that opens up.  He wants to convey the wonder of a simple approach based on a universally available source of energetic support, the breath.\nNeil Harris is a Gestalt psychotherapist and Holotropic Breathwork facilitator. He trained in medicine and worked for 37 years as a psychiatrist, training in general adult psychiatry and then specialising in child and adolescent psychiatry. Alongside psychiatry, he trained as a Gestalt psychotherapist and has worked as a therapist in private practice for 30 years. He retired from his work as a psychiatrist at the end of 2022. He continues to practice as a psychotherapist and as a holotropic breathwork facilitator.\n\n\n\n\n\nHe was introduced to holotropic breathwork in 2015 and became a certified facilitator after six years of training. He has been a partner in HolotropicUK for 4 years, running groups in the New Forest in the south of England.\nHe encountered holotropic breathwork at a time of expanding curiosity for him about the transpersonal elements of his work and life, and about the roots and manifestations of consciousness. He has found a deep sense of the natural symbiosis of his learnings, his professional and private experience, and the apparently limitless possibilities of working with non-ordinary states of consciousness.\n\n\n\n
