Keiron Le Grice | “Understanding Ego-death”
Both spontaneous psychospiritual crises and deep experiential exploration of the unconscious psyche can promote and enact the experience of ego-death, that is, the death of one’s former egoic identity and the rebirth into a different, more complex mode of existence and psychological functioning. This talk considers the phenomenology, experience, and purposes of this death-rebirth experience and places it in the context of C. G. Jung’s theory of individuation and the processes of psychological, cosmological, and spiritual evolution.
